Peragallo, passed peacefully and gently into the presence of Jesus in the company of her family, Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at the Jaffrey Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Jaffrey, New Hampshire. Fran was born and raised on a small farm on Foote Road in Glastonbury, CT in 1926. The daughter of northern Italian immigrants, she understood the values of hard work and resourcefulness, which served as the foundation for her long and happy life. Please contact the local registrar`s office (“Standesamt”) as there is no central registry in Germany. The German Embassy is unable to provide you with certificates or to contact the German registrar´s office on your behalf.
Records of birth, marriage and death are generally kept at the German vital records office (Standesamt) where the event occurred. Most cities have websites at www. (nameofcity).de where you can find the contact information for the appropriate Standesamt and request a copy of your birth or marriage certificate.
The etiquette at German funerals is of a traditional nature. Dark clothes are worn by mourners, black and sometimes sunglasses by those close to the deceased. In the past, according to some, widows had to wear black for up to 5 years and some wore black for the rest of their life.
